Tables, not Walls

This past Sunday, I was honored to preach at Middletown Christian Church. We were starting a sermon series called “Something Better”, where we’re following the Revised Common Lectionary passages that challenge us to see that God is always offering us something better than what we think we want.

The text is Luke 12:13-21, and you can listen to the audio on Middletown’s website here.

As always when I preach, my grandfather, Norval R. Kelley’s Bible was by my side. He would have turned 94 last week, and his Bible serves as a reminder of the village that invested in my life and gave me all the great opportunities I have.

The rock on the music stand next to the Bible is a piece of the separation wall in Palestine that is referenced near the end of the message.

Please let me know what you think. Did this challenge you and make you think? Am I way off base here? Comments and conversation are always welcome on this page.
